A little cabin getaway to the Aframe Haus || Heber Utah
A Little cabin getaway to the Aframe Haus in Heber, Utah.
Our little fam just got back from a little cabin getaway in good ole Heber Utah…. and we got to stay at the cutest place EVER. You can check them out on Airbnb and instagram @aframehaus. Kara and Garret went ALL out and it is absolutely beautiful in every way, I told Park I didn’t want to leave. I especially loved the kitchen and I didn’t mind one bit doing the dishes! HAHA The perfect A-frame cabin is all alone in the mountains of Heber and it is the perfect shade of dark blue. Everything about the cabin is perfection, honestly I couldn’t get over that beautiful place as you can tell from the pictures. Park and I will be going back one day for sure and spending some more time in that beautiful place with our sweet babies! I highly recommend checking them out and treating yourself with a little getaway. 🙂 You deserve it!!!!
The cabin has three bedrooms with queen beds in each, so perfect for bringing up some friends or family. It has two bathrooms that are remodeled to perfection. A beautiful kitchen and family room with huge windows that look at some pretty amazing mountains. Kara has amazing taste in decor as well and everything is so fresh and clean. Go check out their listing on Airbnb to see a little bit more about their AMAZING cabin and book yourself a stay.
“We’ve been talkin’ bout Jackson, ever since the fire went out.”
For birthday’s Park and I love to do little getaways instead of big gifts. We love the idea of making memories instead of spending the money on big presents. For my birthday we headed up to Park City which is our usual place but we wanted to do something different this year. Both of us have been dying to get back to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It has such an old western vibe and that is Parker’s thing lately. I also wanted to do a little getaway before our Kickstarter release to have Parker relax a little before it got crazy. He has been working SOOOOOOOOOO hard lately. He has been working long hours and doing so much to get the Stock & Barrel Kickstarter ready.
Park was at the shop, Indie and I packed up that morning and headed down to surprise him. Indie took him a note with Johnny Cash lyrics “We’ve been talkin’ ’bout Jackson, ever since the fire went out.” Park and I always laugh when we go on trips because we are so chill, especially with Indie girl. We don’t make big plans to go mountain biking, on big hikes or crazy adventures but we have so much fun relaxing and exploring new places.
This time our main exploring was in Grand Teton NationaL Park. If you have never seen the Tetons you are missing out. They are seriously the most amazing, breathtaking mountains you will see. We didn’t end up seeing any animals but had so much fun seeing the different places in Grand Teton. The memories we make as a little family are so special to me. I loved celebrating my sweet, amazing husband in such a beautiful place. He deserves the best and I hope he knows how much Indie and I love him.
Zion National Park in Southern Utah is seriously so UNREAL. It is absolutely breathtaking and one of my favorite parts of our St.George Trip. We didn’t get to spend much time in the park because of our late start and we went the last day of our trip. My sis lives down in St. George with her husband and we were able to spend some quality time with her in Zion. It was so great to be able to spend time with her in such a beautiful place. We were lucky enough to go down to Southern Utah the week it was free national park week so we got into the park for free which was also pretty dang awesome too.
The only hike we had time for was Weeping Rock. It was a really short hike and so easy, it had sidewalks the whole way up so it could be done by about anybody. The rock is constantly “leaking” making it look like it is raining. It was really cool to see and the view from the Weeping Rock was beautiful. Everywhere we looked we were surrounded by beauty and I was so impressed. I remember going to Zion when I was in 3rd grade but I didn’t appreciate it as much back then. As I get older I appreciate things so much more and love to explore this beautiful earth. Our next trip will definitely consist of a lot more Zion National Park. We would love to do more hikes and see more of Zion’s beauty.
One of my favorite family trips is St. George Utah. I have some of my best memories down there from when I was young and also in my married life. It is one of the most chill vacations and we don’t have to do a lot to have a good time. It is 20 degrees warmer there than where Park and I lived so we jumped on the chance to have 80 degree weather. My cute sissy moved down to St.George last year for school and met her hubby. She now lives down there with her hubby so they can finish school but we just miss them. Park and I try to go down with my family as much as we possibly can.
Here are some of our favorite things to do in St. George:
Snow Canyon –
If you haven’t been it is SO beautiful! There are red rocks everywhere and I love it. What we do there?
Hike – Our Jenny’s Canyon this time
Play in the Sand Dunes
My Favorites (Siri them for locations)
Swig – there are two swigs, go get yourself a sugar cookie and a fancy pop. My current favorite is Raspberry Dream
Dip N Dots – my absolute FAVORITE treat, they have a gas station Dip N Dots store that i just found. Check that out if you love yourself some Dip N Dots like I do.
Nelson’s – their custard is so rich and creamy. Park and I get the cookie dough mix in. MMMMM..
Probably our favorite activity for the hot weather, unfortunately the hotel pool was broken so we didn’t get to swim 🙁 Next time though.
With Park’s fam we head up to Tuacahn, where they have Live theatre, concerts, festivals. On Saturday’s they have a little farmer’s market, in the morning, that all of us go and walk through.
Dixie Rock –
Almost every time Park and I have gone down together, we do the small climb up Dixie rock! It is super low-key “hike” but so much fun. We have gotten a treat and ate it with an amazing view of St.George
Urban Renewal –
On the Blvd they have the best consignment store I have ever been to. It has clothing, furniture little knick-knacks. It’s definitely a good stop.
Pasta Factory (Park’s Favorite)
Mongolian BBQ (looks ghetto but SUPER good)
Black Bear Diner (Breakfast)
Chick-Fil-A (we always find it where ever we go!)
If you like to hike, bike or get outdoors you will love St. George. Park and I have gone on a lot of little hikes around St. George and there is never a shortage of activities.
What are your favorite St. George activities that we need to try next?
Our family went to Dana Pointe our first day of our California trip! It was the first beach access we saw on our California adventure so we had to stop. It had been FREEZING at home and snowy so the beach was exactly what we were looking for! It wasn’t super warm but 65 Degrees is a lot better than 20 Degrees back home! It was Indie’s first ocean experience but we didn’t get too close to the water!
She is at the perfect age to experience all these fun new things! She really loved everything and took it all in. Having her makes me enjoy everything and take all the little things in and not take anything for granted!
This is no joke my friends, Disneyland is seriously exactly what it claims to be. Everything we do with Indie is so fun but, being at the happiest place on earth with our favorite girl was so magical!I didn’t know having kids would make everything that much more enjoyable, but it has made sitting on the couch all night enjoyable.
I was a little nervous to take her to Disneyland though. Taking a 9 month old to a crowded place all day without proper naps or normal feedings doesn’t seem ideal. She was the biggest champ ALL day for two days. She would nap and eat on dark rides (pirates was the best) and she hardly fussed. Only on the Nemo submarine, which if i’m being honest I got a little sick too 😉 I think Indie’s favorite part was the balloon Gigi and Papa got her! She would just stare in awe at them as they passed and it kept her busy the whole trip! She really loved Disneyland way more than I thought she would! She snuggled into me and loved all the lights, music and characters! Disneyland is magical for any and every age!
I have listed what I would suggest bringing to Disneyland for your little one in the colder winter months:
Extra diapers/wipes – this is always always a must
Extra change of clothes – for any surprise spills or diaper explosions
Extra blankets – Indie’s got so wet and it was so nice having an extra
Jacket/Hat/Mittens – We definitely got our use out of these. More clothing is definitely the better choice when dealing with the unknown January weather
Light weight Stroller – If anything the stroller was the best catch all. It held everything that we had that we didn’t want to take on the rides. It also was so nice for when Indie did want to nap
Baby snacks – If your baby is anything like Indie though she will want all the treats you pass in disneyland! Indie wanted a taste of every snack we got! She loved the Olaf rice krispies the very most though.
Baby food and Drink – I had the squeezable baby foods
Hand sanitizer – We needed this after everything we touched in Disneyland because I was handling Indie all day and putting treats in her mouth.
Backpack Diaper Bag – We left our diaper bag on our stroller a lot, which I didn’t feed super comfortable with but if we had a backpack diaper bag it would have been a lot easier to take on and off the rides. (I did have stroller clips for my diaper bag which is EXTRA handy too)
Camera – of course this is a no brainer
**Ponchos & Umbrella – Our second day in Disneyland it poured ALL day, we had ponchos for us and an Umbrella for Indie girl. We had ponchos we bought at Wal-Mart and as soon as it started raining we were ready for it. What we didn’t think about was a cover for the stroller so I ended up putting my poncho on the stroller and was under the umbrella with Indie. Definitely do a weather check!
This is just a few of the things I thought were so nice to have with our Indie girl. I’d love to hear your Disneyland Must haves!
^^^Those feet though! Major Heart Eyes^^Oh my heart!
Huntington Beach –
After Balboa Island, our next stop was Huntington beach. Indie didn’t know quite what to think about the water and sand. I would kneel and hold her standing up and wait for the waves to roll in. The waves would hit her toes and she wouldn’t mind, she would just stare at her toes trying to figure out what was going on. But as soon as I would pick her up she would put her legs straight out so that I wouldn’t be able to put her back in the water!
Everything is seriously so much more fun with a little baby. Seeing what she does when she is experiencing all her firsts. Everything she does right now is extra cute. Park and I are laughing all day, and she is constantly making us smile! She is always giggling and babbling and she always wants to test out everything by putting it in her mouth. It doesn’t work out very well with sand!!
One of my favorite traditions Park and I started on our first Cali trip together was eating dinner at Ruby’s on the Pier. It has such a fun atmosphere and an amazing view. We were watching the sunset while sitting eating shrimp and fries. Dinner with a view with family, nothing better!
What are some of your favorite places to eat in Cali? and what are your favorite things to do?
The day after we got to California we decided to make Balboa Island our first stop. We didn’t have an agenda at all that day, which is one of my favorite things about vacation. I am normally that person that has to have everything planned for every hour of the day. I have lists upon lists of what needs to be done, and I go over them in my head to find the most efficient way to fit everything in my day. But especially NOT on this vacation. Park, Indie and I decided to head down 3 days early with our friends Jay and Tanner. We had the Disneyland trip planned already but wanted to get some beach and relaxing time in.
When we pulled into the cutest place, Balboa Island, we hadn’t ever been there so we didn’t have anything specific we wanted to see or do. We all decided on walking down the main street in Balboa Island to look at the shops and then walk along the docks. It is seriously the cutest place!! I love love all the different beach houses, along with all the boats and the docks for the properties. They all are different shapes, colors, some are modern, and some are beachy. They are just all so unique. I think that is why I loved it so much. Each one tells its own story and not one is the same.
Tell me what’s your favorite California stop? Park and I love exploring new places and would love some new ideas!
Park and I met on Labor day 2012, and three weeks later we headed to Park City for my birthday weekend. Since my first birthday in Park City with Park we have made it a tradition. This year we got to bring Indie up and she makes everything that much better! I don’t know why I love Park City as much as I do but I always have the best time. It is only about a hour long drive to get up there but I feel like I am so far away from home. With my birthday being in the fall the mountains are covered with yellow, red and orange trees which makes it that much more beautiful in a mountain town like Park City.
We headed up Friday night and met Travis and Lex (& Kohler of course), J and Tanner and Carl and Liv on main street and got some dinner. All of us walked Main Street until the babies got to tired and we went to the condo for the night. It actually was such a fun condo with so much room, we could have brought so many more people and stayed longer! The condo (Crestview) was right by the outlets which was so convenient.
Each year my birthday trip is so different. We have gone with different people each time, stayed at different places and this year we got to bring our cute Indie girl. Every year it keeps getting better and I love looking forward to it each year.
